DISCLAIMER
Due to the recent changes to the anti-cheat system in PUBG this guide is NO LONGER SAFE TO USE and may get you banned.
In detail this has been noted on the PUBG DEVBLOG: "If you tamper with the game files, your game access may be blocked, especially if you delete, modify or manipulate in any way the files affecting any of the game systems and mechanics."
Thanks to everyone who took the time to read this guide but it is no longer useable as the risk of a ban is too high.
"So, you don't like the desert map? Too bad, we're pretty much gonna shove it down your throat for now."
-BlueHole, 2017 (they didn't actually say that please don't sue me thanks)
Yeah Miramar is cool but have you tried playing Erangel with 15+ fps?
You haven't?
Well let me show you how you can*!
* Kind of, you can't choose which map you're going to play on, but this will make it quicker to get to Erangel.
Locate the Paks folder on your hard drive or SSD.
By default, it should be at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\PUBG\TslGame\Content\Paks
Select the four following items in that folder:
TslGame-WindowsNoEditor_desert.pak
TslGame-WindowsNoEditor_desert_grid.pak
TslGame-WindowsNoEditor_desert_heightmap.pak
TslGame-WindowsNoEditor_desert_lod.pak
And press CTRL+X to cut those files.
Create a folder on your desktop and call it desert.
Paste the files into that folder.
If you wan't to play the desert map again just place the .pak files back where they belong.
Now when you press start to find a game, if the map happens to be the desert map it will automatically place you back on the main menu.
The game will prompt you to either continue or cancel reconnecting to the match.
Press cancel and start queueing again.
Repeat until you get Erangel.
Thank you for reading my guide. If it helped you please rate it and share it to your friends so more people can see it.
If you happen to have some cheapo PUBG skins that you absolutley despise, I will be glad to take them off your hands.
